Jessica Wilson

Jessica Wilson is a full time veterinarian and an IFBB professional athlete. She was born and raised in New York City and has Dominican heritage/descent. After attending veterinary medical at Ross University in the Caribbean Island of St Kitts, she decided to become a specialist in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery and obtained a residency position at a Veterinary Hospital in Denver Colorado, a well known hospital that was featured on the Animal Planet’s “Emergency Vets” for several years. In that position, Jessica was able to gain exposure in the community by outreach and providing care to many patients that needed charity services.

Once she finished her residency training, moved to southern California in 2012 and practiced as a dental specialist for dogs, cats, and small rodents for approximately 5-6 years. During this time period, she discovered bodybuilding as a form of self care as a way of coping with a very stressful career path.  This wonderful “hobby” became integral to her interest in regaining her own health (after a number of health scares related to stress) and mental wellbeing.  Once she discovered the physical and mental benefits of bodybuilding, she knew that spreading the message of self care to others (in particular, fellow veterinarians) was part of her life’s mission.

“The bodybuilding platform via social media has helped me reach and encourage so many people to start paying attention to their wellbeing!  As I learned more about nutrition within the sport, my role as a veterinarian evolved into the field of veterinary nutrition as well.  Although I no longer practice clinical medicine, I now teach other veterinarian about whole food nutrition for their patients as part of “Just Food for Dogs”.

Her veterinary background has served well within the world of bodybuilding as attention to detail is of the utmost importance within the sport just as it is in patient care and surgery.  She earned her professional status with the IFBB in 2015 and since then have been able to compete all around the United States and internationally (MuscleContest Japan in Feb 2019).  Additionally, her current veterinary work has given the opportunity to spread the message of whole food nutrition and health for animals on several, live television news stations in 2019.  Subsequently, this has prepared her well for an amazing experience at the 2019 Amateur Olympia in Las Vegas where she was a cohost/co-anchor on the MonEthos Pro Live providing live coverage of the Mr. Olympia weekend!

Her goals within bodybuilding include earning a place in the Mr. Olympia as one of the top bikini athletes in the world, as well as developing her role other media platforms such as television, magazine, print, radio/podcasts.
