Duron Berry

Duron Berry is 28 years old, born in Los Angeles, California. Middle child of 5, third generation military service member, (currently serving at Fort Bragg, NC.), and fitness enthusiast. “I started my fitness journey at the age of 19 while working three jobs across the greater Los Angeles area. I didn’t really know what I was doing, I had no direction, but being in the gym (Hollywood 24 hour fitness at the time) felt like home, and leaving feeling tired and sore was the best feeling. When I joined the military, I was relatively fit according to the military….110 pushups in 2 minutes, 93 sit-ups, run a 2 mile in 12 minutes flat? Anytime, anywhere. But I longed for more of a challenge beyond my capabilities, so I started competing against other soldiers on post. It  was there I realized that I had more of an aggressive competitive spirit than I had previously known. I became a champion amongst the military community, and before I was able to fully solidify my name, I was transferred to my next duty station, Ft. Richardson, Alaska”, says Duron.

It was here that Duron Berry was truly born. Life, as it always happens to most adults, got dark, and there didn’t seem to be an end in sight. “I remember the night like it was yesterday. Anger and frustration had been at an all time high, and I came across a link to a Kai Greene video. Having never heard or seen this man at the time, I was curious. But he said something that sticks with me to this day, which was, “Life can be what you make it.” And that night in January 2017, I promised myself that I was going to live the life I would be proud of, and I signed up for my first NPC show, 2017 Alaska State Championships. My life had new meaning, my passion had focus, and when I stepped on that stage for the first time, I knew that this sport was what I wanted to be a part of and asset to. Met my trainer, IFBB PRO Marvin Wilson, joined the team, 007 Fitness, and gained a family. So in addition to my leader responsibilities in the Army, I was training like an animal because I knew that I wanted to be an IFBB Pro”.

Duron competed in 5 shows before the 2019 NPC Jr. USAs where he earned his Pro card, and competed in every category from Men’s Physique to Open Bodybuilding, fervently trying to find where he could become the most iconic competitor, and landed in Classic Physique. “I continue my training everyday, in addition to the full time ARMY life, never taking my foot off of the gas, because nothing will stop me from becoming a champion in this sport. Life put me in this spot, and gave me the drive to take it this far, and I owe it to my team and myself to push it to the limit”: @thelastalpha_ifbb
