Aria Adamy

Aria is an IFBB Pro Bikini competitor and an amazing athlete. She was born and raised in Buffalo NY but moved to Gainesville, Florida in 2013 to be closer to her family. She’s also currently working as a pharmacist in a small psychiatric hospital and part time for a community chain pharmacy. She started working for the same community pharmacy as a cashier in high school. She was inspired to become a pharmacist by her first pharmacist mentor, Keith.

“Buffalo will always be ‘home’ but I am a sun loving Floridian! I can’t believe I spent so many freezing years in the snow.  I live with my best friend Elvis, an 11 year old doberman mix I adopted.  He is often in my posing practice videos, I call him my posing coach!” says @ariashine

Aria graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2005 with her doctor of pharmacy degree, earning her PharmD.

According to Aria, when she turned thirty realized she was going down an unhealthy path and she was not happy. “It’s never too late to make a positive change. I was never a high school or collegiate athlete.  I didn’t really start weight training until I was in my thirties. But I never settled for mediocre in my education, so why was I okay with an unhealthy lifestyle after graduation, when I knew better?  Poor nutrition?  A poor body image?  Zero self confidence? I think we fall into a trap as we grow older, and use age as an excuse to settle.  We get comfortable.  We lose our shine. Pushing my limits in the gym and challenging myself on the IFBB stage makes me shine.  I’d like to think I inspire others not to settle, to keep finding their shine, no matter where or when you start”.

Aria lives the word SHINE. Every time she competes, she says “Shining in Boston” (or whatever city she’s in). Loves traveling. “Competing opened that up for me.  I compete by myself and was afraid to travel alone but once I get to the athlete check in, I’m not alone! I have made so many friends while competing or attending shows.”

Aria’s goal is to inspire others to be a better version of themselves. “Although I am a medical professional, I didn’t take care of my health until I was in my thirties.  Believe it or not, I was even a cigarette smoker while I went to pharmacy school!  I did quit smoking before I graduated in 2005, which inspired my mom to kick the habit too.  Throughout school I learned about how lifestyle modification was often the first step in the prevention and management of so many common disease states.  While working in my community pharmacy,  I got to witness first hand the negative effects of an unhealthy lifestyle, especially as we age.  While my twenties consisted of poor nutrition, zero physical activity and late nights, both studying and partying, my thirties were a time for renewal. I started making time to go to the gym and trying to eat healthier by learning how to cook.  I noticed I felt more energetic, confident and happier.”

“One day, as I was looking for my next healthy recipe, I stumbled upon an IFBB Bikini Professional.  I admired her feminine curves and decided I wanted to transform my skinny physique. I never intended on competing but after I did my first NPC Bikini show in October 2012, I was hooked!  Fast forward to 2020, I’m still living a healthy, fit lifestyle and look forward to competing in my fifth year as an IFBB Bikini Professional”. @ariashine
